All of our devices apply stresses and strains to small samples. Which one you need will depend on the force you want to deliver and your experimental probe.
These devices are the original commercial cryogenic strain cells. They are a low-cost option to strain small samples at low temperature and under high magnetic field. The smallest variant, the CS100 is compatible with a 1-inch bore, such as a Quantum Design PPMS/Dynacool. The integrated sensor in the CS1X0 series measures applied displacement.
The FC1X0 series strain cells are high-performance cryogenic stress cells, capable of applying large forces at cryogenic temperature and high magnetic field. They have an outer diameter of 25.4 mm making them compatible with a Quantum Design PPMS/Dynacool. The integrated sensor in the FC1X0 series measures applied force.
The UC200 is a high-performance cell that can be used to measure, stress, strain and the elastic properties of materials at cryogenic temperature and low magnetic field. The integrated sensors measure both Force and Displacement.
The UC2X0T has a large optical access cone allowing a range of transmission-mode, beamline or XRS measurement to be performed while stress/strain is applied and and the elastic properties of materials at cryogenic temperature and low magnetic field are measured. These variants are mainly used at synchrotrons and other beam-line facilities. The integrated sensors measure both Force and Displacement.
These devices are designed for use in UHV systems for use in conjunction with e.g. UHV, ARPES and MOKE probes. Their ultra-small footprint fits the standard Flag-style vacuum transfer systems (omicron sample plates). These devices are entirely mechanical with strain applied using a differential screw turned using a wobble stick and force is indicated using a needle dial.
The LC100 is the only commercially available load cell designed to provide low-drift force measurements at both cryogenic and elevated temperature. Compatible with high vacuum and fitted with overload protection, these robust sensors have applications in high and low temperature industrial processes, cryogen handling, and aerospace applications.
Razorbill Instruments products are designed to work with a wide variety of Cryostats. In most cases, it will be down the the end-user to install the required feedthroughs wiring and bracket in the device but in some cases we can supply more complete systems so a user can simply buy all the parts and the hardware will click together and the experiment can begin.
In additional to the numerous accessories linked to from our stress/strain cell product pages, we also provide a range of additional products that may be used as part of a strain experiment or for completely unrelated physics experiments.
