          • Which strain cell is right for my experiment?

This side-by-side comparison of the different strain cells available makes it easier to determine which member of our product range will fit your planned experiment best.

      • CS1x0 series strain cells
          • CS1x0 series strain cells

These devices are the original commercial cryogenic strain cells. They are a low-cost option to strain small samples at low temperature and under high magnetic field. The smallest variant, the CS100 is compatible with a 1-inch bore, such as a Quantum Design PPMS/Dynacool. The integrated sensor in the CS1X0 series measures applied displacement.

      • FC1X0 series stress cell
          • FC1X0 series stress cell

The FC1X0 series strain cells are high-performance cryogenic stress cells, capable of applying large forces at cryogenic temperature and high magnetic field. They have an outer diameter of 25.4 mm making them compatible with a Quantum Design PPMS/Dynacool. The integrated sensor in the FC1X0 series measures applied force.

      • UC200 – Universal stress/strain cell
          • UC200 – Universal stress/strain cell

The UC200 is a high-performance cell that can be used to measure, stress, strain and the elastic properties of materials at cryogenic temperature and low magnetic field. The integrated sensors measure both Force and Displacement.

      • CS2X0 series transmission cell
          • CS2X0 series transmission cell

The CS2X0 strain cells are have a large optical access cone allowing a range of transmission-mode, beamline or XRS measurement to be performed without the probe beam needing to pass through the titanium of the device. These variants are mainly used at synchrotrons and other beam-line facilities. The integrated sensor measures applied displacement.

  • Accessories
      • SR Interchangeable Sample Platforms
          • The SR sample carrier

The SR sample carriers allow samples to be quickly changed between experiments to allow you to get best use out of your cryostat. These are particularly relevent in time sensitive situations, such as at user-facilities and beam lines.

      • MTD100 – magnetic detection coils
          • MTD – Magnetic detection coils

The MTD100 magnetic detection coils are ultra-miniature magnetic susceptibility coils designed to detect magnetic transitions in strain samples.

      • RP100 – Power Supply
          • RP100 – Power supply

The RP100 power supply is a 4-quadrant sink/source power supply for driving the entire range of Razorbill Stress/Strain cells.

      • MP240 – High Isolation Multiplexer
          • MP240 – Multiplexer

The MP240 is a Double pole, quad throw fully shielded coaxial multiplexer designed for use in high impedance measurement systems.

      • Sample Plates
          • Sample Plates

Sample plates hold the sample during the straining. Different sample plates are better suited to different experiments, for example raised sample plates can give better access to the sample or flexure sample plates can allow the easy mounting of very small samples.

      • WP100 – Wiring Platform
          • WP100 – Wiring Platform

Wiring platform allows tiny electrical contacts to be made more easily to samples for electrical transport measurements

      • Stands and Mounting Table
          • Stands and Mounting Tables

When mounting a sample in the cell or when forming contacts to the sample, it is convenient to have a stand to hold the cell upright.

In some cases, a purpose built optical table can be used to make fine manipulations easier, particularly is a micromanipulator is used.

      • PPMS Probe Conversion kit
          • PPMS Probe Conversion kit

This kit allows users of a Quantum Design PPMS cryostat a way of converting the P450 ‘stick’ for use with a CS100 or FC100 Razorbill stress/strain cell. Includes vacuum feed-throughs, cabling and wiring plates.

      • Attocube Compatibility
          • Attocube Compatibility

Sometimes it is necessary to move a stress or strain cell around inside a cryostat, for example for optics alignment or to bring the sample into range of a scanning probe. We have a few accessories to make attocube integration easier.

      • Custom PPMS probe
          • Custom PPMS Probe

We provide the option of providing a new Quantum Design PPMS P450 probe, fully modified with the feedthroughs and connectors to get going with our products straight away.
